North Wales Clinical Child Psychologist
I am Jo Elliott, a private North Wales based clinical child psychologist. I have extensive experience working to improve the quality of lives of children, young people and their families. I am available to work evenings if this is more suitable. I am based in Colwyn Bay, near Llandudno, in the county of Conwy, and work throughout North Wales.
Whilst being a parent can be a very rewarding experience, it also has its challenges. These challenges can become more difficult to manage if a child has emotional, behavioural or sleep difficulties, and more complex if a child has a developmental or learning disability. I help parents and their children to manage these challenges so that they are more able to enjoy family life. I aim to improve the well-being of children and families, and to help them achieve their potential.
Therapy
Some of the main areas in which parents request help from a clinical child psychologist are in managing behavioural, emotional or sleep difficulties, and understanding their child’s specific needs relating to intellectual ability, memory, and autism. My approaches draw from evidence-based behavioural, cognitive behavioural, EMDR, attachment, solution-focused and systemic theories. I work closely with parents and, where appropriate, develop strong links with other professionals in the child’s life. This ensures that I meet the individual needs of the child and their family, and that my approach fits with their culture, beliefs and values.
Possibly you are finding that looking after your child is more tiring or stressful than you had hoped, or maybe you just want to know more about their specific strengths and difficulties and how to help them. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to know anything more about my services, or if you are wondering whether I’m able to help and would like an informal chat. I will let you know if I feel another type of therapist would be more able to meet your individual needs.
